Nemesis Retribution
A downloadable rivalry simulator
Nemesis Retribution is a storytelling game of greatest enemies, dark counterparts and all consuming rivalries for 2-6 players. It's played using a pool of six-sided dice. Perfect for one-shot play with support for longer seasons of games.
You'll tell the story of a Hero and their Nemesis. Their shattered mirror image. Their shadow that hopes to take their place in the light.
You'll alternate between scenes focusing on the Hero and the Nemesis. They'll each build their strength, they'll make battle plans and react to events, as they race full throttle to an inevitable Showdown. The Nemesis will spring their attack and get to face off against the person they hate most in the world.
One player will facilitate the game as the Narrator while the rest of the players take shared ownership of all the major characters and act through them to shape the story. This is facilitated by a mix of rotating roles; the Nemesis, the Hero, and the Cast.
The game comes with multiple playsets of pre-written heroes. Players use these playsets to create their dark counterparts; someone sworn to annihilate them, perhaps even created solely for this purpose.
- Ghost-Snake! NYC’s masked crusader, a poison to the powerful and a salve to the downtrodden. By day Bailey Burns works as a counsellor, keeping secrets from their colleagues, while by night they don the mask of the Ghost Snake and take to the streets armed with strange powers and deadly fighting skills.
- Avalon Pink! Danny Narita is a college dropout with attitude, with the power of the Alter Watch, activated by calling out for change, they transform into Avalon Pink, the magical protector of Earth. They defend Arann Cove from the otherworldly forces of the Wasteland, armed with her Fae Sword, extraordinary fighting ability, strength and agility beyond any mere mortal and identity-concealing pink spandex.
- Diamond Ant, Agent of SWARM! The renegade result of an experimental cyber-soldier programme by the rogue black-ops organisation NEST. Recruited by the international rescue group SWARM to thwart their creators.
- Agatha Shelduck! Famed explorer of the strange and unknown. An archaeologist known for discoveries of mythic proportions. There’s one mystery that has always eluded her though: the Lost City of Atlantis.
- Senior-Herald Chariott Solarflare! Knight of the Infernal Order, sworn protector of the Asteroid Kingdom, their home on a reef of meteors. That was before the people of the Asteroid Kingdom offended Old God Baron Soil, the Gardener of Decay. Before he responded by summoning his Chthonic Fog to roll over the entire kingdom. Before the Senior-Herald’s home was frozen in stasis.
- K9000-∆! In the 2090s meteor strikes from wormholes bring giant monsters to earth. Once a strike lands a Meteor Zone is declared. Any licensed mech can enter to try and deal with monsters. One of the most famous zoners is K9000-∆. Streaming crews allowed into the Meteor Zones have made the dog faced mecha into one of the most famous things on Earth.
